Im going to be making a 12" sub fiberglass enclosure in a few weeks for my moms matrix and I need some web sites on how to make a good sounding box and really anything that relates to fiberglass speaker enclosures.

Also I need the dimensions of the wooden speaker rings since Im not sure Ill have a sub handy.

Thanks man! Thats awesome! Now I just need the specs for mdf rings.

cut it about 10 and a half inches.. if it doesnt fit do a little bit of sanding or use a Rasp.... and get it to where it fits..

Im a little unclear as to what holds the mdf ring in place? Does it just stick to the fibrerglass? Icant see the dowels used to position them staying up for to long.

well u hot glue the dowels and once you fleece it up for shape you wanna reinforce the dowels a bit with some resin and FG.

well for the mdf rings you have to make two

one with a smaller opening then the other so that it sit flush...should use a sub makes it alot easier..

as for holding it in place use dowles..cut them to the size you want soo that the sub is pointing where you want it too then hot glue them down...

i think hes asking do u get rid of the dowels at the end

ya exactly, I would assume you just pull them out since they couldnt possibly offer much support.

As for the specker rings I think I have that figured out. Im assumming the outside diameter on a 12" specker is a perfect 12 inches.

well no u don't take them out, at least i never have. they just add extra support.

That’s fine if you want the same sound a the next car? If you want radical then use an all ply construction with a plexi glass insert (optional ) notice that this sub fires into the rear glass creating an awesome pressure wave across the whole front of the car. No bass is wasted on this design. Fibre glass does not have the resonance to deal with this pressure, it could, but not as impressive, as you need volume.

um im not sure what youre saying, but i think he wants to use fiberglass so he can make an enclosure to fit in a corner or something, and to keep trunk space. plexi is hard to work with, heavier, harder to seal, and you cant make curves with it like you can with fiberglass. as for the sub firing towards the rear glass, you can make any box do that. i doubt his mom wants something "radical" in her car anyways. more likely to get stolen if anyone sees it. he also says he wants it "good sounding," and thats easier to do with a 12 inch and fiberglass, as opposed to a 15 with plexi and 6x9s sticking out of it. also the sub there is running at 8ohms.
