Was really hoping someone would do it for a GT.

Sorry not pics no digital camera, in 4 hours we got the tranny out, and flywheel and stuff out and most of the interior apart. I found out that my rear main seal is leaking so I had to stop till we get a new seal, hopefully autozone or pepboys has one and I can pick it up tommorow.

Akimbo, the gt is gonna be the exact same thing. I don't see what would be different about it.

good luck dude and its well worth it.
btw the wire to hook up to the clutch pedal is taped up into the bottom of the dash. you dont even need to plug it in unless you plan to buy the clutch pedal relay. I still havent and i love the fact that i dont need to push down the clutch to start it.

akimbo nothing is different, your wiring harness maybe a bit different looking but im sure they wire colors are the exact same.

Hey sev, did all the plugs just match up to the manual tranny?

ummm yes and no

obviously the main harness plug has to be cut up and i showed how in my How-To.

also your reverse light plug needs to be changed. On the auto its a 3 prong if i remember correctly and on the manual its a 2 prong. You can either find the 2 prong from a junkyard or i just took this non conductive puddy that my dad had and i filled in the plug after i attached the wires. It holds very well and keeps water out and wont short out the wires.

Ok, today I found the replacment main seal and everything is almost back together, should finish it up tommorow. It would have been done today but the toyota dealer ordered the wrong bolts so, tommorow I need to find the 2 tranny bolts that are different. Everything is in except those 2 tranny bolts, the motor mounts, wiring and the axles.

Well finished up today and so far so good. It is very much worth it to do this. My car drives so much better now. Only thing is I now have a flashing o/d off light, and a check engine light on because I havn't switched ECU's yet.

Na no write up, his was pretty much spot on, the only thing different I did had to do with the wiring, instead of cutting the wires out of the plug to bypass the neutral safety switch(the big grey plug in his write up) I just jumped the wires by putting a pin connecting the 2 pins in the plug and taped it up with electrical tape. Also the top tranny mount the 12 x1.25 65 mm bolt I don't think was 65 mm, it looked like 55 mm and the toyota dealer said it was 55 too. They gave me 2 70mm bolts and I had to cut one down. I had to cut off more then 5 mm. Also more trouble I ran into was I bought a manual ECU and the last plug did not work with my wiring harness, my plugs were 26 16 22 the manual ecu is 26 16 12 still working on figuring this one out. You can use your auto ecu you just get a flashing o/d off light and a check engine light all the time.

Yeah I got the tranny for $200, the clutch kit was $150 and most of the shifter parts, pedals and such were $100 and the flywheel was $30, the ECu was $75(which I haven't used yet), and misc stuff was $80(like shifht nob, bolts, oil, getting the flywheel turned).

Gas, you should have no problem doing it, its basically just like taking out a transmission and putting a new one in, the inside stuff is the only thing that you have to do different. That took a few hours putting in the pedals is the hardest part because of the angle, its kinda hard to get to.
