Ok, Christmas is here and I want an automatic starter on my car... No biggie right? well no one here will do it for me cuz my car is a stick. Does any company make a starter for a stick that if u try and start it and it's in gear it wont start? If so Please help me out here!!

yep they sure do. one really good alarm that i totally reccomend is the compustar one it's something like 2w sumptin but it has to be an fm signal they go for like 250 or so on ebay and it has a paging back system to let you know when someone opened a door or whatever. my buddy has it on his lude and he loves it. i'm gonna be getting this one. how it works is when you park and but it in neutral and pull up the ebrake the system reconizes this that your in neutral and when you get out of the car then the car shuts off. it even has the option of a turbo timer if you want it. it's an awesome system. you can start your car forl 1 1/4 miles and it pages you from that far too. i even has a page back signal to let you know that your car was started. this is the best bank for the buck alarm.

i think you have to leave it in neutral and hand brake

Before u screw ur self over, thats not how it works. All it is, is the same thing for an auto. U just have to by-pass the clutch. You can get some thing-like a switch so it only works in N, but i have only heard of it not seen it. You will still be able to start in any gear, and your car will um.. go until it hits somthing.

Ok Ok, And i know your going to say, i dont leave it in gear. Well he dosnt eathier, He poped it into gear when he was working on it, and for some reason when he puled it out it didnt come out far enough. Also that was with the hand break, that damn civic pushed my boat 20 ft, before he got the car shut off.

Yeah, it's easy to say you'll just always put the car in neutral. I said that to myself, and look what happened.




I even had a 3-relay safety switch setup too, but when putting a panel back on I happened to put a screw through a wire, grounding out a wire and making the car think it was safe to start. I also accidentally left the car in gear, and when I remote started it the summer before last I came out to find the car not running and way closer to the wall than I ever park it. Turns out it hit my cement wall and bounced off, doing considerable cosmetic damage to the front bumper. >>

So yeah, just be sure to be safe with your install. I got lucky and hit a wall. It could've been another parked car or a kid.

My relay setup was quite the good idea I think, I just had bad luck and should've ran wires better. Also, a reed switch or even a spring mounted correctly could work. Those are ways to get any remote start to work safely with your five-speed.

Hey so is ther a company that makes a starter that is safe if u leave it in gear? Come on guys time's passin by, help me out!!! lol

the answer is NO.
either leave the car in Neutral or just hit whatever is in front of you. You need to have the clutch engaged when the car is in gear and you try to turn it on.

Actually Ricky, the Compustar system won't allow the car to start if it's in gear. The reason being that it won't be able to auto-run until the doors close because the car will be in gear...so it won't be able to run. So the alarm will know not to try to start the car.

edit: Wow, that's some that they do manual transmissions, anyone has or knws someone with the alarm in general?

for all you people saying there's no system out there....well your all wrong brothas cuz there is... and the compustar system is an awesome alarm for the buck i mean what more can you ask for remote start made esp for manual trans, turbo time, page back system from 1 1/4 away, lcd screen, page back to let you know your car is started, and it even has this feature the you put on your windshield and it's a sticker saying tap this... it's used if your friends wanna get ahold of you; all they have to do is tap in it.
