What do you guys think of Sony Head units, this one in particular?!

Need a good opinion quick.

I really, really dislike Sony head units. My experience with them has been that they have horrible reliability, too many useless features and not enough features to control the sound quality, and poor build quality(both Sony head units our family has owned have gotten dust on the inside of the LED display.) I would never buy a Sony head unit ever again.

anything by Sony is not any good, Sony has a high failure rate. you can find a much better cd player in that range, look at Clarion, Alpine and Pioneer Premier (if you are shopping with Crutchfield, unfortunately)

Do NOT buy sony

Like everyone said, sony suck. I worked at bestbuy,and thats all we had coming back for re-pairs and to be replaced, also there sound was the worst also, there cd's would skip. everyone i knew had one, it broke within 1/2 year. I would say pioneer or kenwood. personaly like kenwood, fast mp-3 read-up an better quality.. but im also basing that off of the 3 pioneers i owned and the 3 kenwoods... witch i still have the two kenwoods.

Kenwood and JVC are the best

Any of the new sony stuff sucks.I had a soney head unit along time ago and it was awsome but you cant get it anymore.Alpine and eclipse is the best in my opinion.

Alpines no doubt the best, i got that running 2 my 2 12' infinity kappa perf. sounds very niccce, audiobahn 1300 amp also.

Eclipse rocks and I think that it might be better than alpine.Its just your preference.

while being very biased towards Eclipse, Alpine, Clarion and Pioneer Premier. i would only go with one of these 4. with these 4 brands you will not go wrong. i have owned a head unit from 2 of these brands. from the Eclipse 5542 to the Alpine 7893(current) and i loved them both. but with either of these four you will be happy. how much do you have to spend on a HU by the way?

Its it however, important to note that Eclipses don't usually last, nor do they power much- they're made for high end uses with amps- and high end users can replace their HU a lot.

Clarion is sold at a lot of consumer places- which usually means they've been cutting their prices by slashing the quality of their components they put in. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't

Pioneer has always been sold at consumer places- most people don't like it

Alpine's stuff has been going downhill- quality of components has been drecreasing.. they don't put out as much power as they used to.. etc

I disagree shid.What HU are you using?The HU I have is pretty much top of the line no pretty pictures and lots of lights if thats the case go get a jvc if you want a deck that is serious get eclipse cd 3424.

Dude, what are you talking about? That was exactly my point.

Your saying that they dont last.All true comp decks that dont use deck power to power there speakes will last.Its when you are using the deck power to control your door sp and tweeters and so on that will make it pop.
