yeah, 7mgtes are cheaper, those injectors are a direct replacement for the 90-92 turbo probe, which swap right in with ours. i wanted to buy everything new, and for the money, i'd rather get venoms (cuz they are bigger) than stock probe ones, which were ridiculously expensive.

john and i are gonna write up and take pics of the whole install.

ha, the intercooler is really really big, like waaaaay bigger than i expected. i'm not sure what i'm gonna do about that yet, but we'll see >smile.gif> maybe time for a gt4 bumper... too bad i have NO mohnay right now >smile.gif>

Charlie, get on AIM. I need to talk to you about a couple things. >biggrin.gif>

I can't wait to see your turbo setup by the way!

New Toyota project coming soon...
Those pics turn me on... Just a lil bit.
i sure hope you take me for a ride in that once you get it all in!! >biggrin.gif>
venom injectors are actually bigger ?
than the ones from 7mgte's hmmmm
just wondering how much u got em anyways ?

and i was looking up turbo probe injectors and found some that are 50$

yes, i have a set that was 40. but i wanted all NEW parts to put in for my kit. i don't want to rely on used injectors that have 120K on them. stock turbo probe injectors are 310 cc size, and the venom ones are a 10% increase, so about 340 cc is my guess. also, stock turbo probe injectors are like 120 each new from ford.

also, all told i probably spent 3500 on the whole thing, and I still have one or two more things to buy.

i was just wondering what you were planning on boosting. if it is 8 psi or below then bigger injectors wouldnt be necessary. this is just for future reference for anyone else. 250's would be fine for anyone looking to get about 10 psi.

i'm gonna run 10 psi most likely. it was recommended i get bigger injectors because i'm not using an FMU or Fuel pressure regulator, i'm just using a supra tt fuel pump and the afc and bigger injectors. the reason i got bigger was i'm going to continue to upgrade the engine, and i didn't want to have to buy new injectors again at some point. plus, 10 psi will be pusing the limits of 250s, and i don't want to be stressing the system.

It all sounds so great. When are you planning on putting it all in?

as soon as possible. i'm looking at easter weekend right now, i think 2 days for the install and a day to tune should do it.

Sweeeeeeeet.

Dude, I can't wait. We'll finally know what the ole' 7A can do.
so what's the size of our stock injectors then ?

also u were saying that u bought venom injectors for a turbo probe ?

i think our stock ones are like 220 cc or something. turbo probe/mx-6 injectors (90-92) are a direct replacement for ours. denso makes the celica injectors and the probe ones, and they happen to have the same plug setup.

So you're just gonna bolt it all up? What are you going to do about your ECU? Will the stock one still work?

yeah, but i have an SAFC to adjust the fuel, and i'm setting the timing back 5 degrees, and i made a check valve for the MAP sensor, so that takes care of all the ECU issues.

Ok, I'm not very educated when it comes to turbos and associated mods.

By changing the timing you are going to make the incomming air help push out the exhaust. I think. BUT the manifold pressure thing.... How you gonna fool the computer there? Also, is there a parts total price yet?

Where'd you get your afc by the way?

i got my afc from ebay. right about the timing, that's why i had to make a check valve for the MAP sensor that bypasses the excess pressure. very easy, took like 30 bucks to make. the check valve is like a BOV or wastegate for the MAP sensor setup. you could also get a 2 bar MAP sensor from an MR2 turbo and use that instead, but that will cost more $$. i'm eventually going to get a J&S safeguard which has a great check valve, so my setup is just temporary, but it'll do the job.

i'm not sure on a total price yet, i got a really good deal on most of my stuff... probably about 3500 so far, and i still need to get the downpipe and WG pipe made. BUT! i went probably the most expensive route you could go. i bought everything new, and got a lot of toys that you don't need. >smile.gif>

incidentally, if you have a 96+ celica and are going turbo, be careful of your intercooler selection, as we have smaller air opening than the 94-95 ones. not a big deal for the intercooler, that will get enough air, but it will block air to the radiator. not good! >biggrin.gif>

i'm not sure what i'm going to do about this yet, probably i'll wait and get a gt4 front end, which will delay the install a little, but, eh, i'm a patient guy.

He beat me to it. : (

I'm interested in seeing how your car turns out Charlie. Ever think of getting a top mount intercooler and using the GT-4 hood and molding it down? (to save cost)
Yeah, I'm courious too!! should be a little monster >wink.gif> >wink.gif>
Hey Charlie, what about the full pillar for the gauges?I was on the group you made to made it but I had no news....

well, i think getting the hood and using a top mount would cost way more than a front mount. i'm gonna temporarily go with my stock look right now, until I can get the $$ for the gt4 front end. then i shouldn't have any problems, that has so much more room.

as to the triple pod, lo-tek is not responding to my emails. i've heard it takes them incredibly long to get anything done. i'll see if i can get in touch with them again, but i'm starting to feel like it's just not worth the trouble.

i'm just going to leave my fan out for now. i don't really idle in traffic during the summer, it doesn't get rid of your AC, just makes it work a little less. no biggie. yeah, but zipstrips knows the part numbers for the fans.
