Front Reinforcement - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #16352 11 posts Started by flipside97LTD
Just thought this might be helpful to people with the invader front bumper: Ya know that aluminum reinforcement that runs behind the front end? Well I hated how I could still see it behind the bumper. So I took off the bumper, sanded the aluminum a little, wiped it down with a cleaner, and sprayed it with a spraycan of black self-etching primer. It's still there but it looks a whole lot better now. Ya might wanna try it.

Ha, I had to cut mine in the middle to fit the FMIC...so my bar is there but useless. Hell, if I wreck, it'll do worse than if it wasn't there. >tongue.gif>

I painted mine black a while ago too. You could see through the vent and see it, so I painted it black. >smile.gif>

just sprayed mine black..but..where my car is black...it doesn't stand out.
You've got to paint it black or it looks really ugly. Flat black would look the best so you can't even see it

I used a self-etching primer too. A regular spraycan black will probably hold up fine. But aluminum is known to shed (i use it a lot at work) it's surface over time. So using a primer that etches into the metal first and then painting over it is probably the best way.
