hey wats goin on?? i just purchased a 1995 celica gt less than a week ago so i'm kinda new here. my friend asked me if he could test out my car and i let my friend drive it around. he pushed the car like it was his own(rx7) and now something in the shifter assembly is messed up. (ex. somethimes if you try to shift it into the lower gears(2nd, 4th and r) it wont engage and you end up just reving). so my other friend and i try to see wat the problem is and i just end up buying a new quickshifter from trd to hopefully solve the problem. but i need to take out the center console and i cant take out the side panels(the left and right panels connected to the center console) and i was wondering if anybody could help me out!! i'm getting the quickshifter in 2morrow so i need replys asap! thanx alot!!
HOW DO I REMOVE THE CENTER CONSOLE? - 6G Celicas Forums
i think u have to undo a few screws in the glove box, take out the lower part of the dash under the climate controls then the rest is pretty much just popping parts off ..... I THINK
well i just found the how to article and i need to know how to take out the knee panels and if possible take out the stock amp in my car(the silver unit under the climate controls) so i could get to the clips easier. thanx
the amp should unscrew from whatever metal its bolted to
QUOTE(lagos @ Jul 10, 2006 - 1:55 PM) i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.
Also, to remove the knee panels, it requires removal of the climate control unit, which is gone into in detal in the first part of this how-to article. I did this a couple weekends ago while working on my ECU wiring, and it's not too hard, but it just takes more time.
Like jgreening said, the knee panel piece can be cut with no adverse affects. Once the center console is back in, there's no need for the piece that gets cut, as the screws in the front of the center console(I'm talking about the part with the armrest and ashtray) hold the knee panels piece together. >

Are you just referring to the peices of plastic on either side of the center console?

chubby little brother wants in on the action so he steals the stock shifter assembly, pops as many flinstone vitamins in his mouth as he could >

look at the difference in height between the stock shifter and the trd short shifter!!
