The Gen 7 - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #1544 27 posts Started by Tony-94
This topic might have been discussed before when the gen 7 first came out, but I ain't seen it so here goes.
I thinks it's ok, it's a Toyota after all so it's not going to be bad. Its reliable and solid like all Toyotas and has got decent performance.
But.... I really couldn't live with the car's styling. Too angular for my taste, a bit too sci-fi inspired. The back espescially doesn't look too great. I like my cars curvy like the gen 6.
I have to say that I am getting used to the styling now it's been around for a while but can't say if I'd ever buy one.

Facelift bumper-foglights-clear indicators, clear side repeaters, 16in O.Z alloys, stainless steel grill. JDM facelift tail lights. clear sidelights. Retro-fit A/C conversion. Late spec spoiler-less tailgate with 3rd brake light.
I agree, too angular for my taste, but if you do the right thing (such as selling it and buying a 6th gen) then its all good >biggrin.gif>
ya me too.

I would definitely get a 7th gen if you could drop a 3S-GTE in there and make it AWD. hehehe Because aren't they lighter?
In performance. 7th gen is better. GT is good for fuel economy, GTS for good performance. For the exterior, 7th gen has an edgier look, but it is ugly. The butt sits too high, and looks like a ship. A lot of ppl are split over 7th gen's looks, but almost all agree that 6th is the best looking. For interior, it is not as nice as 6th gen, it has more "plastic" look. The windows are so small, it is hard to see blind spots. The front seats are nice tho, but there's practically no room in the rear. 7th gen is quite a nice car, I don't think I will buy one if a need a new car.
I love how they look, only thing I don't like is they don't seem as well built as the 6th gen celica, seems like people are having little problems with them here and there already.
only thing that comes to mind is newer car meaning less to no milage. But the fact that they dont have a celica gt-four (instead isnt it celica SS or whatever...), the newer 1's dosent mean much in Japan. America however...since this country sux when it comes to importing cars (reason's why ppl have civics an not sumthin way better like a 95 300zx, etc.), the newer celica gt-s is all we have. Our gen in america comes stock with crappy motors...

Thats the impression I get. I think because the gen 7 is priced a lot cheaper than the gen 6 when it was new they had to sacrifice on build quality a little.

Well even though I kinda perfer the 6 gen...I was at the cleveland auto show today and they had one of the 7 gen with the "action" package and I couldn't stop staring at it. Granted it did have a body kit, so to say, maybe i would look at a 6 gen just has hard with a body kit. But I think the 7 gen looks sweet too.
I like the way they look, i didnt at first, but they grew on me, i now think they look badass(still not as good as the 6th >biggrin.gif> ) but better than all the civics and integras out there.
i didn't like them in the beginning either. Now though, I would take one. You can drop a supercharger in and get 200HP at the wheels. (that's on a 2300 pound car!)
ya a super charger for 4500? jsut doesnt seem worth it to me, i love the car however, i test drove a gts before i got my celica sweet car, but no power till 5500, just seems wierd but its is a high revvin mother. it handles good too, but then i test drove teh 96gt and i fell in luv, 3k cheaper looked better, seemd more powerful, (TO me). but id take a gts nuttin like revvin a car to 8300 >biggrin.gif>

yeah I didn't like them at all at first, but I like em pretty well now. Still thinks curves are much better than angles on cars (6th gen celica's better lookin than 7th gen celica's). With bodykit's they look a lot better too. My friend's gonna get one pretty soon, and I'm gettin ready to get beat on the race track lol.
I think the 7gc is crap. Too boxy lookin and with 3 different chassis types, not 1 of them has a turbo stock. The interior reminds me of a 2000+ Cougar. Waste of money in my eyes.

hate do disagree with ya man but 4500 for a supercharger is a lot. you can get a 6th gen gt-4 front clip from jarco for 3 grand. and a 5th gen front clip for 2 g's. that is worth it more than a few more hp for 4500

don't 7th gens gts's have like 180hp?? i think that is bhp though
they have 180, but not till 7600(right?) like i said there fun cars to drive, but the speed is not there till 5.5k
My bro has a 2000 Celli GT. I keep telling him that his car is ugly and he tells me the same about my car. I just think that theres too many angles in the car. I like curves like what we have in our cars. But I have to say that I've always wished that there was as many parts out there for our car as there is for the 7th gen.

Something like that. Because of the variable valve timing (vvti) engines they need to be revved very high and kept at the high revs through the gears to use the power effectively.

the looks is all opinion, i like edgy and retro, but i also love the slow smooth curves (like the 6gc). given the choice id probably go with a 6gc over a 7gc, but i def. would take a 7th over quite a few other new cars on the market.

Believer, you'll leave her, in leaving them allNo but I don't buy itLike anything you do, as anyone you areCause I'm...Ten Speed, of God's Blood & Burial
The GTS has most likely around.... 150-160 Wheel HP. The SC brings it up to 200whp. That's not bad. And yes, 4500 is too much to pay for a SC. BUT, it's far less than it would cost to 3s my car and add a stick. And I bet the 7th gen would be faster.

no i gots to dissagree with u on that. 3sgte would be faster especally if u got one outa a st205, crank the boost up ull own alott of cars out there.
I don't like the high revving engine ( reminds me of civics etc all hp at like 7k nooo torque). Plus, I think it looks like a door stop to me, way too fat in the back and the headlights look ****y. It just doesn't look very refined/ high quality anymore.
My friend has one and I don't like it at all. His front window is as big as the skylight on my dining room.

Also -- they look the front end crashed into a brick wall going 180+ miles per hour.. >rolleyes.gif>
i test drove one and liked the way the engine loved to rev high but took to long to get some power out of it maybe i needed to get use to it
but first impression was not that good
Don't get me wrong now fellas, I would much rather have my 6th gen. But, I give the 7th gen props. It's cheaper and faster stock than any celica in america since the all-trac. (I just hate they sacraficed looks and fit\finish) I think the quality is still there though. God knows the engines (rev=8000) won't last as long as ours though.
well I like the look of the 7th gen. I don't think it looks better then our 6th gen. as for performance it think they are great. I would buy one just to have it as my second car.

The only thing i like about the 7gen is all the aftermarket support that came out for it.
If that damn movie would have came out 2yrs earlier we would have hella support for our cars. >mad.gif>
