celica totaled - 6G Celicas Forums

so yeah a big mac truck rear ended me yesterday. when i was waiting to turn right. he didnt hit me hard but it sure did **** up the celi. anyways the company handed me a check for $7,500 for the car and what i had put into it. and i was able to get my intake and pully off the car.

but anyways im going to buy another but since ive got a little extra what do you guys think i should do, i figure if i get a celica gt for 5,000 i could look at a 5s-fte which would be awesome. for the rest of the $2,500. and a little extra from work.

so what do you guys think i should do with the money i would love to hear opinions and cost estimates. please no 5s-fe NA suggestions. its not going to cut it.

wow, you got lucky 7500 thats great.. If you really Like the Celi, an want another one.. Get an 94 celi with high miles and drop in the 3s-gte... Im sure you could get it both for about 7500-8500
well problem is i have no training in cars at all and most ive done to my car is fluid change, belt change, pully and intake.

so by no where does that classify me in the place to swap a engine plus i really dont have anywhere to do the swap. no garage or anything.

but if i could get a mechanic to do it for me it would be great. but i dont think i can afford that.

oh and esentialy the guy bought the celica from me after i agreed not to call the cops or insurance. it was soome big fat guy who owned to company he made me a offer for the car and my pops took it. we would not have gotten that muchfor it or it solved that fast if insurance had been called.

haha, thats pretty cool, cause insurance would probably of givin you around $6k maybe, maybe.

you could buy a high milage gt, then do a rebuild, and go turbo.
or buy a 94 gt w/ low to average miles ($4k), and buy one of those blocks w/ forged internals some guy was talking about on here from that website for $1500 shipped and that'll bump you up to 150hp, then do exhaust, (you got the cai and a pulley), and then you can go turbo with the money left and then you could boast to much higher psi then a stock engine could take...

Car = $4000 New Block = $1500 Turbo Set-Up = $2000 (custom w/ garret t3/t4 hybrid (they boast high right?) turbo and better than stock 3sgte parts). Then exhaust and parts off your celi, and new wheels/tires, possible gt4 tranny and stuff = Roughly $1k depending on what you get. ============ About $8k over budget, but be hot as hell.

OH YEA or Celica GT w/ blown engine or engine problems (you could get lucky >biggrin.gif> ) = $2500-$3000, complete front gt4 clip = $3000 (around), and make friends w/ mechanic and give him $1000-$1,500 to put in your engine = priceless... oh wait $1000-$1500 + lots of pizza and beer.
then exhaust, cai, and stuff

I'd agree fairly w/ the engine rebuild, but buying the block could be a good idea, or you could do what one guy is doin' to his 7afe. It's a fairly recent post, but it's boosting his 7a to about 150-160hp w/o turbo which is really good for an ST. This plan would put your GT to about 170-180hp. He got new 82mm pistons (like a mm bigger than the stock ones), new crank, performance cams, ummm....some other stuff. But seriously, if you rebuild the internals of the engine w/ performance parts, you can get about a 50 hp gain, give or take a few hp, and that's before you throw on CIA and exhaust, and after CIA and exhaust, depending on what you get and hp gain, you'd have 190-200hp in a GT before turbo. That's what I plan on doing w/ mine. I don't know all there is to know about it yet though. I'm just beginning the research myself. But I mean this involves new fuel lines and injectors, spark plugs, the works on the engine. But this is also a great way to prepare your engine for turbo as well because the stock parts would wear out a lot faster w/ a turbo than aftermarket and this would allow your engine a longer life span. As I said before, I'm still researching this myself, but the hp gain before turbo is no bull!!! I just need to figure out prices and what not. The guy that did this to his 7a said it cost him like 2k for the whole project.
whoa i forgot about him Edo or Eco or something w/ the built 7AFE. if you did that with a 5SFE and put on a ecu w/ agressive fuel map, CAI, Headers, and Exhaust and are put up to around 200-210hp and probably 220ft lbs., then went turbo after that at around 8psi with a big ole' FMIC you'd be running like 270hp!!! that'd be awesome on a 5SFE you could compete w/ some (or alot) of the 3SGTE swapped gt's on here. and crank it up to 12psi or so an be at nearly 300hp!

wow that'd be crazy, my fact/numbers are probably completly off, lol, but you'd still be way up there, and that'd be sooo bad a**
or you could just get a GT w/ 5SFE with low miles, or with high miles and just do a basic rebuild to the engine, and put on one of those Superchargers that some guys were talking a few months back, if im not mistaking it claimed to put another 100HP to the front wheels, then put on a CAI, Exhaust, Headers, and some more bolt-ons and you'd be set at more than 250hp+

i think my best bet here from what im haering from you guys is rebuild and internals. and then go turbo sounds best to me. just want to put in the fact that i need my car and almost all work would be mechanic done. so yeah ive got to factor that in.

where can i buy forged internals (the crank is forged right?) for the 5s-fe?

also what going to be the difference between the ct26 and a t3/t4?

also with the t3/t4 would i need a custom manifold?

Buy a GT with wicked high miles and do the 3sgte conversion...but..keep the exterior stock...so you will have a nice sleeper! ;-)
i dont have the cash for the 3gste. remember i have to pay a mechanic. and i think mina_xxx did a swap by a mechanic and came out 9,000 less in his pocket. maybe, maybe if i did the work myself but i just want to stress i dont have anyplace to keep my car for the swap (i.e. my parents park in the garage and i park outside)

think you can get it done a lot less than 9k
you can buy my GT, and throw a turbo at it >smile.gif> .

just get a nice Celica and worry about the rest later. If you spend 7500, you can get a nice 99 GT with low miles and nice body. I'd go that route.
well either way im in the market, if a nice 96 come up with low miles ill get it. or if a nice 99 come up ill get it. ill post back when i actuatly buy a celi. and ill decided what to do when i find out hwo much money im gonna have left.

anyways does anyone know where i can get forged 5sfe internals

Stock 5s crank is forged. Pauter makes Ibeam rods and JE makes 8.5:1 pistons. I would also throw some ARP bolts in the block along with ARP headstuds.
You can't tune a 5sfe up to 200 hp; I'm sorry but it just can't be done without forced induction. Search some of the MR2 boards for more info, they've done way more with the 5sfe than most of us have; and they can get it to like 160 hp tops
