im just about finished the outside of my car and i just started to gather parts to turbo my st and am trying to work on the fuel system right now. any one have any advice on what to use as far as injectors, pump and fpr go? any info will help.

a lot of people say to go with 7m-ge injectors, but i read that doggy is using probe turbo injectors. it all depends on how much power you want to make. there is a formula for figuring out injector size, but you have to know what your realistic power goal is.

you need a rising rate fuel pressure regulator rated for 12:1 for stock injectors and possibly 6:1 for bigger aftermarket injectors. i may be wrong on that last part so somebody has to back me up. brand new they are probably $100 - $150, used on ebay the best deal i've found was $75. to me it's worth paying a little extra for a brand new piece.

on my setup, i'm including an safc with the rrfpr. i hear it's a good idea and that makes sence cause the safc controls injector pulses and the rrfpr controls the pressure.

hope that helps, i'm no expert at this crap but that's what i believe is right. anybody, feel free to correct me if i'm wrong on any of this.

Dusty why not buy a FMU 12:1 and a SAFC??? Thats what all the other turbo guys did??? I really dont get which one to choose the rrfpr or fmu.... Like why did the other guys choose the fmu instead of the rrfpr if they needs the pressure it be raised on stock injectors??? Also one of them used after market injectors and still got a 12:1 fmu? Some1 explain and help me out >>

a rrfpr and fmu are the same thing. sorry i should have clarified.

you could use a 12:1 fmu with aftermarket injectors, as long as the injectors aren't too much bigger than stock. think of creating fuel pressure in the same way you create water pressure from a hose. you kind of plug the end of the hose to make the water build up pressure to escape, your fuel pump does the same thing. you may need a 6:1 or 8:1 fmu with aftermarket injectors because when you lower the pressure you are actually flowing more fuel.

yes, for stock injectors you use a 12:1 fmu. it seems to me like you are referring to fmu and rrfpr as two different things, there the same thing (kind of like soda and pop). i'm not that great at analogies but you get the point.


i will be using stock injectors with a walbro 255lph fuel pump and boosting at 8psi. later on when i rebuild my engine and tranny i will get aftermarket injectors, but i haven't given any thought to size or brand that i will get yet.

in case you are looking for a fmu: you can find one at optauto.com (great site). go to the engine page, then to the forced induction page, then to the fmu page. it has a pretty good explaination of it's purpose there too.

i ran an SAFC2 and a 12:1 FMU

and i ran stupid rich. its also why my stock fuel pump crapped out on me.

i would recomend either an 8:1 or a 10:1

dyno tuning didn't help?

I used 4agze injectors, stock fuel pump but added a new E/mannagment.
imrunning 8-10psi and have not had one problem

Yes, you need a boost controller with fuel management or whatever, but you have to upgrade the injectors; the stock injectors can't handle boost and you'll go lean- even if you're controller is telling them to put more fuel in.
