Shaved door handles - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #1439 18 posts Started by 3TST
I know that a couple of people have or are in the process of shaving their door handles.
What I want to know is...
Do you still have the original door handles and door handle wells?

I have the tacky black plastic ones and want to replace them with a set that I can paint.

Way back when I had a 95 mustang i shaved my door handles, than used a door lock actuator from a car alarm (which u can purchase seperately) to pop the door... worked out well no need for any huge actuators all u have to do is make the actuator pull on the arm the door handle attach's too...

as far as the shave of the door it was pretty simple, bondo does wonders... =) painting can be a bitch depending on the color of the car usually the whole door would have to be painted.

I think he is asking for the actual door handles not how to shave them. Apparently euro celi's didn't come with body colored door handles... hmmm >confused.gif>
At least we got some choice parts here in the US.
Well spotted gh0st_d0g. >wink.gif>
Yes I'm after the actual door handles and wells. >bowdown.gif>

BTW: In Europe the ST's came with the black pastic door handles and wells and the GT's were painted.
Same situation for the door/wing mirrors. >frown.gif>

oooooohhhhh, unlucky. Finally we have an advantage in vehicular diversity!
Yeah, Europe got screwed on accessories.
does anyone have pics of shaved door handles on their celi's on here? is it costly to do? cause i imagine it would be pretty sweet...
it looks ok doesn't make the car look that much better. but i have one question what are you going to do if the batt. dies.

actually a kid I know got his door handles shaved, then the solenoid broke to open it, so he had to crawl in through the trunk until he got it fixed. that would have been a sight to see... lol
Don't most people install a button under the car or in the wheelwell that overrides the remote open incase your battery dies.
good point mac daddy. and what happens if it rains or snows and your door gets frozen shut? and you don't have a hatch and the seats don't fold down?

Also, if you put a button under the wheel well make sure that it has a water proof casing. Or you could put a smaller back up battery in the trunk or somewhere under the hood. That's what I would do.
Id love to do it, but i dont got the cash >frown.gif>
Same here 95ST, but 1200 is a little more than i would want to pay to have it done. That's how much my rims alone are gonna cost me.
Plain????
Last i checked, cars come with door handles from the factory.
So how does shaving the door handles make it look plain? >confused.gif> >confused.gif>

i think he means that it looks like it's missing something. which is how i see. i don't like it...it's too smooth, there's nothin to give a sense of dimension to it...somethin like that...iono. just looks like somethin's missing, and in a bad way.
