Topic #1404 15 posts Started by 94gtcelica
sup guys i just finished putting on my new KYB GR2 shocks and my ground-control, let me tell you it was a trip to put these damn things on, but if anyone has any questions on how to put them on or how they ride just let me know
i had a ?, should i have my car re-alignled since i drop it. its drop about 2" on each side maybe more, cant really tell, all i know is that it looks hot as hell
So how DO they ride??? And yes, you probably should get it aligned to be safe, so you dont wear down your tires uneven.

Sweet, can u notice a moderate amount of change ?
2" is quite a change.

>biggrin.gif> get your car aligned just to be safe
94gtCelica...how is the ride difference? Is there a noticable change from going from stock shocks to KYB's? I really need to know. Can't decide between KYB's and Koni's. I'm on stock shocks still with my GC's on. Lowered mine about 2" and I then raised it up to a 1.5" drop bcus my ride was hella bouncy. I heard that putting on KYB's was like riding on stock shocks? And there wasn't that much of a difference. Please post some info. >smile.gif>

CelicaQT: I changed my stock shocks for kyb Gr-2s but no noticeable change for me... I would recommend only to change if your stock ones are getting very old and leaking.
you almost always have to change your shocks when you add lowering springs or coilovers to your car correct?
No!
Only if the drop is like 1.75" or greater is when you should really change your shocks. Other than that your stock should be ok until they blowup.

wouldn't it be better to change your shocks instead of having them blow up and then just have to do it then? why not do it all at the same time and get it over with.. >rolleyes.gif>

Go for the Koni's Have trust in the brand and quality. It cost more but you will never have to replace them. If you get OEM ones like KYB's they will end up blowing on yah.

I got Koni and GC's and the ride is pretty good now. I dropped it pretty low.
Yeah....id like to know too, cuz id rather drop it lower than 2" and still have really tight handling >wink.gif>

I payed 1200 canadian installed in my car. and I payed 750 canadian for the Ground Control Coilvers installed in my car. If I did them together I would of saved on installation but I had no idea that I can't ride on factory shocks with the Ground Controls.
the way i see it wait until you're ready to put on both your coilovers and shocks. this saves time and effort. and you get what you pay for i got koni's and ground controls. but im selling them since i ordered a set of JIC
