shops around here wanted 3-400 for spring install. I did it with a friend in about 3 hours instead. i suggest not going through a shop, as it is an easy install

yeah, i want to find a friend to help because i want to paint my wheels and calipers at the same time, maybe even do my brakes... i want to have one big day of doign everything required to jack the car up and take the wheels off lol
With auto work, figure about three times what people say it takes. I find Murphy's Law tends to apply. If you want to do a day of it, make sure you don't need your car for three. And you definitely need a friend to drive to the store and get the parts you find have gone to hell and didn't intend to replace.
And if it's a Toyota only part... you are definitely spending and waiting.

But it's way cooler than having a shop do it.
Springs = ~$50 per
Both = ~$65-70

$500 for lowering springs/shocks, sway bar bushings and an alignment
shop did it for $100 + 1 hr for the first set of springs...saw how easy it was and did it myself the 2nd time around. (switched to eibach to intrax) jus get a friend and a spring compressor.
Man, really like every one else says, Its easy, as long as your carfull about the rear sway bar links you should be able to get it done with in a few hours.. Also go to autozone, you can rent a compresor there for free.. its like 45 bucks.. but you get your money back when you return it.. dont waste your monrey for somthing simple./.. Also you gotta start somewhere when working on cars.
would coilovers cost more to install?

New Toyota project coming soon...
it's easy to do, really. yes i do this regularly at work, we charge $35 ea strut. i did mine in about an hour. you need a strut compressor to collapse the spring a bit. then unbolt the mount from the piston. but be careful when releasing the spring, i've known guys that have gotten a face full of spring. ouch.
