After Market Cruise Control - 6G Celicas Forums

My last car had cruise control and I really miss it (although I don't miss the car, it was a diesel and slow as Christmas). What would be involved in fitting cruise to my GT? I guess I will need a new steering wheel with the controls attached, however I don't know if the wiring is already in place for it. Some modern cars can have cruise fitted for about $200 as it just requires a simple ECU program and a steering column control stalk.
well, your going to need the ecu for cruse control, all the wireing the realys, an the module on the engine.. I would say dont even bother... to much work, an stuff.. unless your good at wireing, and you find it at a junk yard.
I dont kno if you need the ECU for it. The "controller" uses your throttle cable to maintain speed, I dont think its as complicated as you think.

I have some CC parts lying around, i can see whats missing and perhaps you can rig it .

Has anyone hooked up stock CC elsewhere after putting on an aftermarket steering wheel. I like aftermarket wheels... but I like cruise too.
An aftermarket cruise is fairly easy to install, the newer electronic ones tie in to the vehicle speed sensor and the brakelite switch, mount the servo on the strut tower and the control stalk on the steering column.. getting ready to install on on my mothers 2000 Protege, approx $160, check somewhere like J.C. Whitney.
