Time to start with the mods. I hate my car for it's speed though. I keep working with it, maybe one day it'll not suck horably.

you may have lost to a pilot, but I bet the celica looked better losing then the pilot looked winning.
If people saw the race they would have thought you let the poor kid win.

Last night I was at the red light beside a new Honda Pilot. I didnt quite know wheather or not he was going to race me, it was some kid so I figured there would be a chance. Light turns green and he guns it. I drop the clutch, tired chirp and I'm off about .5 second after he guns it. I'm going through the gears, and he is pulling away from me. The gas pedal is on the floor, and yet he still pulls away from me. Can anyone tell me what the hell is going on here?

BTW before you flame, I race SOLO 2 so don't "flame" my driving ability. I'm not the best but I do shift very quickly, I'm taking the car to the track in the summer and I'll let you guys know how fast I do the 1/4 in.

Is the 5s-fe really that frigging slow? Or do you guys think the Pilot was modded?
I've only got a CAI and I was running 91 pump octane on a full tank when this happened.  >frown.gif>

It is pretty funny.....thats why you dont race stuff if you dont have a 15 sec or faster car....you do know Toyota has a minivan that will smoke us

my celi is faster some times than other times. i think it has to do with the air temp and moisture outside. Its picky about that. Turbochrged, I won a new S2000, mustang gt & integra but got beat by a 2000prelude and a chevy truck going uphill & minivan . It just depends with my car, sometimes its faster. If its not the air as a factor then im clueless as to why the difference.

let us do a favor to our community....
Let the guys w/ the turbos run for us >biggrin.gif>

then everyone will think our cars are pretty fast
I raced my friends V6 Probe with more mods than me, and i won. He was auto and i have 5 speed. I beat an LS integra real bad and a Civic EX as well. But i barely beat an Explorer once and got RIPPPPPED apart by a Camaro V8. And that sums up my racing days. Everyday i get in my car i wish i had a GT-4 though!!! >mad.gif>
Some of us don't have this problem >tongue.gif>

Took part in a rally last year on some closed roads and had fun humiliating a GT3 RS, Skyline, RS500 Cosworth, and a few others. As soon as my mate get's his butt into gear (has the necessary software), I'll be able too upload some in-car footage to my website. >biggrin.gif>

wow... really? i didnt know that about the compression. I always put like 93 oct. in mine i have a 7a. I work like 30 miles away and ive compaered 93 and 87, 87 burns too quick, i get better mileage with the 93...maybe i shoudl try it again...after i get some seamist or whatever that stuff is that you put in your car to break down carbon deponsits.

I was putting 93 in my 7AFTE. Your saying it would run better with 87? I thought that since I had more air inside I would need better burning fuel. I use 89 on my reg 7a now.

He said higher octane is only better for engines that generate a lot of combustion heat, meaning forced induction engines and high compression engines. Higher octane fuels aren't neccesarily better burning, they're more resistant to heat and reduce pre-detonation...

the 5sfe is pretty high compression though isn't it? It has a 9:5:1 compression ratio. And considering you can only boost at 8 psi on the 5sfe because it's already has such high compression.

correct me if i'm wrong =\

That doesn't generally rate as high compression. I'd only call 10:5 and more "high compression"... but it also depends on the engine. Even 10:0 and 10:3 compression engines can run relatively OK on 87-89 octane...

regardless of that noise, the owners manual says itself that for 5SFE engines, if you want increased performance, run premium fuel... personally I feel increased SMOOTHNESS, but other than that >confused.gif>

umm...no
that would be the s2k

the pilot has a larger engine...but only makes 162 hp and 160 lb ft

whoever said you barely lost to an RSX-s...your friend sucks ass at driving
220 hp and 160 lb ft...and Im not sure on this, but I believe the RSX is as light (if not lighter) than your celica...

I own a 52 HP festiva, so my 95 celica gt feels like a rocket! But I have lost pretty much every race I had. Its so bad, i just roll  down my window and say dont bother-u won.  I bought my celica for reliability #1. Everything else is extra..So no complaints from me..
