CV's?
more than likely its the axel or cv if youd like, you may also want to check the wheel hub bearing

any ideas how i can check if its the cv joint or the axle myself???? no time to take it to mechnic now since its Bank holiday in the uk >
>
its the axle, i'm almost sure of it. I'm having the same problem. You can drive on it still and you should be fine. Take it to the mechanic when you get a chance.
u fixed your yet junior? if yes how much was it ?? cheers >

The passenger side CV joint is $59.99(USD) from AutoZone. I'd imagine that the driver side is about the same. I haven't changed mine yet, just got some prices because I need to do it soon(same low speed clicking while turning).
I haven't changed mine as yet because i got a winter beater, but a rebuilt axle is 85 cdn plus core. Make sure you let the shop know if you got abs or not, it makes a difference in the axle.
sounds like a pretty expensive job *sigh*
its not that hard , id give you a walkthrough but youd have to talk to me on aim

drivers side is more expensive last time i asked toyota
fastgt - i dont have a aim account, >
> , im not even sure what the problem is yet, think i take it to my mechnic and have him take a look at it >
> the clicking is getting worse , happens more when the car is cold, what does this indicate??
Hey veilside if its the cv joint look under the front of the car and look behind the drivers wheel u will see a rubber gator at the end of the driveshaft if u can see its split and chucking grease out all over the place then i would say it the cv joint , also does it only do it when turning?? if so then its the cv joint , have u looked at the tyre there could be a nial in it (i had that prob)..hope u get it sorted m8

cheers kev u pisshead >
> dont think it can be a nail since the clicking sounds a lot more than a nail clciking against the road
looks heres what u do, take off your tire, check the inner and outta boots if either one of them is ripped u might be able to get away just changing the boots, 30 bucks for a kit at toyota, but if its way bad then u must change the entire cv, im not saying its for sure but i dont see what else it could be than the cv, unless its the wheel bearing as i stated earlier

Go here, check the troubleshooting link

and if I need to do any in the future, I will buy a NEW joint and put it on my axle, the rebuilt axle assemblys dont last (in my experience). Or a NEW assembly from Raxles or somebody.

,,,And watch those rebuilt axles, all they seem to do on the cheap ones is wash them out, maybe drop new ball bearings in (on the worn races), new boots and resell them, put 3 in my Mazda in 18 months, yes they are warrantied, but its a pain in the ass to keep changing them.

> driving the car today and noticed the clicking occurs more frequent when cold with the car jus started, but when the car is all warmed up the clicks are less frequent
to check if its you wheel bearing, take the tire off, then the brake caliper, then the rotor. wiggle the wheel hub if there is excessive play then its you bearing for sure, and in my opinion those are a b*tch to change if the bearings are frozen. also while youre there check those boots make sure theyre not ripped

and if you do decide to change those bearings without a press, please be very carefeul to not damage any part of the housing, a scratch or dent will possibly ruin it

so wheel bearings can be a possible cause for these clicks hmmmmm >
>
yes they are a possibility

Sounds like an axle. I have had that happen twice and both times it was an axle. The boot tears and it kills them pretty quick.
