PROBLEM Electrical is Draining the Battery - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #10901 5 posts Started by Crzybakerdog
well since my car died a few weeks due to the battery dieing, the same thing is happening now that did then. I'll try to explain it as best as i can. Somehow the door sensor is faulty or something similar to that because when i take the key out after the car is off and open the door everything seems to be fine but if i stay in the car and then close the door: the lights, door lights, Ac lights (not running just the lights) brake light (weakly glowing)and oil light are all still on. the only rememdy i have for this is taking off the battery termials or else some lights will be on. Also i can turn on my headlights if i want to as well with the car off. Well fooling around with the dome makes the brightness of the lights inside to go bright, to dim, to low and kinda flickering like. Does anyone know where the door sensor is located exactly so i can check to troubleshoot If someone else has had this problem or knows a solution i would greatly appreciate it. this is something i need to fix asap, like tonight. Also been raining here for like 4 hrs now and it doesnt seem to be stoping >frown.gif> (granted i have had this problem before which casued me to get a new battery but then it went away and now has returned with me not being able to turn off all the lights nomatter what i try inside the car.)
when this happens is the key is on ACC, OFF . or out of the ignition.. if it's out you will have to check for a short...

well the key is out of the ignition and the door light on the dash is on as well as the door lights inside the car. they are both on as well. right now i have taken off the little door lights. Now The dash door light is still on as well as the key ring light around the key hole. those are still both on with all the doors closed and the key out of the ignition.
The door pinswitches are the plunger switches next to the door lock striker. I think there is only a screw or two holding them in. When you pull them out they lose the ground and stop working. I have seen these go bad but not that often.

Do you have an alarm?
no i dont have an alarm i have subs hooked up with a new deck but that was a at least a year ago and i havent really done anything to change it around since i didnt install it. and havnt had the need to change it around. i think there is a short somewhere but im sure. it might also be the hatch not being registered as closed but either way i just disconnect my neg terminal whereever i go so i dont drain the battery. pain in arse but thats all i can do for now untill my uncle who is a mechanic can look at it on thursday. >frown.gif>
