Ok since my door panels where abused from the previous owner (DAMN HIM/HER) I decided (as I mentioned in a few posts) I am going to mold my own... basically this is how it will be done...
First remove everything off the panel itself, the door handle, the map pocket/speaker area...
Than tape the whole door panel up, spray foam the ()@*&@ out of it. Wait till it drys... than lay the fiberglass... once its dry smooth it out (bondo, etc). Once thats done, paint it gloss black...
what do u guys think?
seems like maybe a good idea, but just seems like a lot of work for somthing, that shouldnt have the time spent, but go for it... maybe if its cool enough, you could make a mold , an sell them.
Well since I cant find new door panels for em... I mine as well mold em, it wont be hard tho...
try a junkyard for the panels?

I was talking to my bodyshop tech last weekend and he said that dealerships can order you new interior pieces. They are supposed to keep making them for 5 years, but he said that they will still have em years and years afterward. I dunno, that might be a little easier than the fiberglass.
hey go for it.. be diffrenet.. everyone has the normal door panles.. do something that hasn't been done before

I'd say if you are gonna put that kind of effort into it, then definetly do some sort of custom speaker enclosures. That'd be sweet.

I've been thinking about this for a while too. I have holes in my current door panels from my manual window cranks, and I don't really want to put on the full power door panels that I have sitting in my room.
My only issue that I keep thinking of is getting both doors to look exactly the same.

looking the same is easy, but like i said one of my speaker pods will be angled a bit higher... as far as the rest it will be the same.
But if your worried about making them the same, than all you need to do is tape up the panel, spray foam it, or make a little bondo mold of it, than remove the door panel and you have your mold for your new panel.

kinda doing the same thing but jsut with bottom section for now i smoothed out all the wrinkle things the cutt and filled thespeaker grill to mount the new rockford componets that look just like my subs and it all gets paint black with green pearl in a couple weeks when i finish the door handles antenna rear wipper and squirte ralong with my fiberglass sub box and finsh smoothin out the tow hook area of my rea bumper , and i only have 3 weeks tell first show , it well be done
As for the whole panel (minus the bottom speaker pod) the procedure will go like this;
1. Remove panel.
2. Strip all Vinyl from panel
3. Drill holes into panel (so fiberglass stays secure)
4. Plastic the inside of the door, place panel back on.
5. Run two layers of fiberglass on door panel (you do this ON THE DOOR to prevent warping)
6. Once dried remove panel
7. Form custom door panel using mdf, and spray foam (let spray foam dry than carve out design)
8. Fiberglass door (3 layers of mat)
9. Sand, Bondo/Glaze imperfections
10. Sand smooth, paint.
I will have picture progress and write up/how-to on it once i start it.
