Why take the needles off at all? I installed my Halo gauges without removing the needles. It took me a little longer, and you gotta be careful, but it sure beats having to recalibrate everything.

I suggest prying from the top and bottom rather than the sides. You'll probably break the vent if you pry from the middle on either side (the hinge that allows the vent to swivel is right there)

The way I look at it, $5000 can either get me an engine swap and 220 horsepower, or it can get me 400 horse and 500 ft. lbs of torque in another car. *shrug*
