it really sounds like you have a loose/burnt/broken connection somewhere. do you have a meter to check continuity ?

Yeah it would be a good idea to put a new one in the car and a spare in the glove box. I'm fairly certain thats your problem. Rockauto.com has the relays for 15 bucks a pop.
