my g/f's 3sgte is doing the same thing...i figured in was plugs but we put new ones in and nothing changed. it idles at 1200 when warm when it's supposed to be at 800. i'm thinking it may be the iacv ...

just go get it diagnosed for like 150 believe me it will be worth it. look all the money you would spend otherwise replacing parts that don't need to be replaced.

did you mess with the intake manifold at all such as wires recently. there is a ground on the back of the intake manifold that is sometimes forgotten and these symptoms will happen then.

what was the temp gauge at? did it overflow soon as you started it up,,,if it did it's your HG

did you crank the engine until the needle on the gauge wouldn't go up any further. it usually takes 2+ compression strokes or so for it to register completely.
