Well fuse are early technology and the only advantage of them is they are cheap and small. Circuit breakers are modern invention, more expensive and bigger but u only need to buy them once.

You left the car on idle for 1 hr??
I think its either the fuel pump ( no getting enough fuel or a clog somewhere in the fuel line), the distributor (failed bearing)...these are just stabs in the dark...
