Yep, exactly like Jeremiah said. A bigger battery will allow more current flow, if the alternator needs it, if not, the altenator just draws what it needs.

Yeah, caps are a band aid fix. Won't actually solve the problem. Like they've said before, buy a better battery, deep cycle, and improve your grounding if you havent already.
