I don't know what tyre brands are easy to get over there but any semi slick will do a better job than just a ridiculously expensive all rounder, only get about 10-20 000km's out of them if you're luck...

Welcome to the forum! All you can try is a tune up! is it misfiring at all?
Tune up is spark plugs, leads, distributor cap, rotor and a fuel filter couldn't hurt.
