He meant to say 6th gen Celica 3S-GTE. Which is a 3rd gen 3S-GTE. Putting in a 3rd gen 3S-GTE into a 6th gen Celica has been done before. Go for it if you have the money for it.

Only 6-speed tranny I've heard of for a S-series engine is the Altezza's 3S-GE. But that was meant for RWD. You friend might be bs'ing you.

UK-Spec GT's have 173BHP, not the 138BHP you mentioned earlier. I imagine the JDM SS-II's have a slightly more aggressive ECU to take advantage of the octane they have over there.
