At least in the USA, the housing needs to have a DOT stamp to be "legal"
I'm not even sure the JDM tail lights even have that stamp.

can probably re-tap the threads and get a new bolt...or getting an insert installed. A machine shop or aviation repair place could do it and it probably wouldn't cost much, maybe 10-15min of work
