What gauge wire are you running for your power?
Doesnt sound as though you need a second alternator. Heavy battery? Maybe change it to an optima or something.

Anyway for others, it is a short run of 4gauge wire which has a terminal at the end.
Easily replaced.

There seems to be two wires coming off the positive terminal of the battery
I am assuming that the thing one goes to a fuse box and the thicker cable goes to the starter motor? Any chance the thicker ...

Dont know much but I don't think it is wise to play with the airbag wires.
I think the airbag work off current/voltage, a minor flucuation can trick the bag into deploying...
