I find that cheap chinese LEDs usually only fail due to poor soldering on my part. You can't apply heat to the leads for very long or it damages the semiconductor inside

When the key is turned to "ON", the entire vehicle receives power.
When the key is turned to "START", only the starter, ecu and distributor recieve power.
Thus, nothing should be draining your battery...
